Teaching Individuals to Refine Their Personal and Professional Goals
Reflect and Review It!!
It doesn’t seem that long ago since we were celebrating the New Year and now we are in the final quarter of the year, and Christmas seems like it’s just around the corner. Before you know it, we will be celebrating the New Year and setting our New Year’s goals or resolutions.
“It’s a waste of time and energy to keep thinking about something that you have made no progress on” – David Allen
At the beginning of the year some of us set ourselves goals for what we want to achieve in our personal and professional lives, so in the last quarter you need to take the time to review and reflect on where we are now, what we have done and where we want to be. Have you taken the time to reflect on what you have achieved so far, and what you still need to do before the end of the year?
If you managed to either stay on route to achieving your goals, or have successfully completed your journey early, well done!
For those of you who have not achieved your goals, maybe because you lost the motivation to move it forward, or you have not yet started because you are still thinking about or waiting for the right time? It’s not too late to start. Find ten minutes sometime this week, grab a pen, paper and a quiet space, and list the things you should have done. Then decide what you need to do to move your situation forward and feel a sense of accomplishment instead of regret.
“Baby steps count, as long as you are going forward. You add them all up, and one day you look back and you’ll be surprised at where you might get to.” – Chris Gardner
